Hillarious! It’s a diary of a teenager who writes bluntly about the events going on around him, many if which he finds confusing. He is confident, blunt and straightforward. Sue Townsend has done an amazing job by getting into the soul of a 14 year old child. She has a great sense of humour. You can’t resist laughing and smiling throughout the book.
The book is written in a diary format, wherein the child describes each day of his life. He is witty, and writes poems. He even takes great interest in his parents marital life problems. He describes his feelings towards his parents love problems in an amusing way, which is just by accident, as he doesn’t intend to be funny at that point, but his oblivion and confusion make him sound funny.
I loved Adrian’s character. He is adorable in certain ways. Sue Townsend has written many books in the series. Though I haven’t read them, but I am sure they are also worth a read.
This is a stress buster. If you are looking for a light read, do try this. You won’t be disappointed. I would give a 4/5 to this book.
I loved this book when I read it, long ago. I’ve read all the subsequent Adrian Mole books too. It almost as if I grew up with him!
Woww, that would be lovely, as you could relate totally with the kid. Yes, it’s a series and all seem hillarious, though I have not read them yet. But will grab one soon.
